An RDO made for a long weekend so I took the opportunity to get in a pre-fish for the upcoming Hobie Fishing Atomic Round 02. St Georges Basin which is coming up in a few weeks.
On day one I nailed quality, just not quantity. To be fair I lost count of how many flathead I caught but it’s all about the bream and sadly only managed the one!
I fished mostly structure on edges and there was definitely one particular stand-out lure that fish couldn’t seem to resist, so that was worth noting.
It was a gorgeous day out but being in the glaring sun all day can be exhausting.
I took a break on Saturday and returned on Sunday to see if I could find an area with more opportunities to source some “bag fillers” for competition weekend, getting that full bag, even if they’re not quality fish, is always a huge confidence boost that can make or break the rest of the weekend.
I spent the day working around some weed beds and flats and out into some deeper water. I found a few legal size bream and that helped me develop a vague plan for competition weekend. A bit more pedalling involved this time so I need to remember to account for the length of time it will take me to get back to check in regardless of the conditions!
